Perovskite is a highly promising next-generation photovoltaic technology that is rapidly moving towards industrial production, and significant progress has been made in module applications. The technical challenges of perovskite mainly include further improving the efficiency of commercial cell, optimizing the process of tandem cells, and continuously exploring the application scenarios of perovskite cell. The large-scale development of the perovskite industry will bring huge market opportunities for related technology, equipment, and material suppliers.
Leading Enterprises actively promote the mass production and application market development of perovskite. In February 2025, the 1MWp perovskite PV module application project of the 2GW photovoltaic sand control project in Kubuqi, Mengxi Base, jointly carried out by MicroQuanta and CTG, was included in the Directory of Key Low-carbon Technologies for China Promotion (Fifth Batch). In January 2025, the steady-state efficiency of the 2048cm2 perovskite-Si tandem module of GCL Perovskite successfully exceeded 29.51%. GCL Perovskite is committed to the mass production and shipment of 2.76m² commercial modules, as well as in-depth research on stability.
Utmolight 150MW perovskite pilot line and the world's first GW level production line have been put into operation, and 2.82m2 perovskite modules have been steadily mass-produced. In addition, Utmolight has implemented more than 20 application projects, covering various climatic conditions such as high temperature, high humidity, and strong radiation. The steady-state efficiency of Renshine Solar perovskite tandem module has reached 26.2%. Renshine Solar has successfully built a 10MW perovskite tandem cell pilot line and a 150MW mass production line, and started the construction of a GW level perovskite cell line.
Traditional photovoltaic giants are also actively developing perovskite and tandem cell technologies. In January 2025, the conversion efficiency of JinkoSolar perovskite/TOPCon tandem cells reached 33.84%. In April 2025, the efficiency of the Longi Si-perovskite tandem cell reached 34.85% and the efficiency of TrinaSolar 210mm perovskite-Si tandem cell reached 31.1%. Perovskite tandem cell technology will promote the mass production efficiency of photovoltaic modules to over 30%, and is expected to promote PV as the cheapest power of electricity.
